The ESG Reporting and Comms Manager will play a central role in shaping the company’s ESG strategy and effectively communicating our progress against it, embedding ESG within our culture at all levels of the organisation and ensuring a good understanding of our approach among external stakeholders including investors. This role will also be responsible for working cross-functionally to compile, analyse and report on our progress across various ESG metrics, formulating systems and process to enhance that reporting, and keeping informed about emerging ESG trends and best practice.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead ESG reporting and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather, validate, analyse and monitor ESG-related data and KPIs
  •  Develop current processes to regularly monitor progress and identify areas where remedial action should be taken
  • Deliver the company’s external ESG corporate reporting and benchmarking (e.g. TCFD and future reporting requirements such as IFRS S1 and S2, TPT and CSDDD)
  • Own ESG-related sections of the Annual Report & Accounts
  • Manage external data assurance processes
  • Respond to ESG questionnaires from Business customers, rating agencies, investors and other stakeholders (e.g. CDP, EcoVadis)
  • Conduct research and benchmarking
  • Horizon scanning for industry developments, emerging regulations and best practices in ESG reporting, identifying areas for improvement
  • Support the Head of Sustainability in understanding requirements for carbon emission reporting and disclosure and contributing towards adherence to these requirements
  • Assist in conducting benchmarking exercises to compare our organisation’s ESG performance against peers and industry standards
  • Leading any future updates to the company’s materiality assessment
  • Raise awareness of ESG initiatives and successes within the organisation
  • Preparation of reports and updates for the ESG Board, ESG Committee, senior management and main company Board
  • Collaborate with communications colleagues to push ESG up the agenda in our internal comms and drive wider colleague buy-in
  • Implement ESG governance including coordination of the ESG Board
  • Responsible for running of the monthly ESG Board, including working with the Director of IR & ESG to set a full and varied agenda, developing and coordinating pre-reads, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed in a timely manner

  • Manage the ESG Risk Register, requiring cross functional collaboration to ensure controls are appropriate and are being managed; involvement in internal audit processes relating to ESG
  • Support the Investor Relations team in communicating ESG matters to current and prospective investors
  • Ownership of ESG sections of the corporate website, ensuring visibility of accurate and up-to-date ESG information which aligns with external reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Work with Head of Sustainability to develop briefings on operational sustainability suitable for an investor audience
  • Support the Director of IR & ESG on ad hoc projects

 

Key Skills

  • A true all-rounder, who is highly numerate but also has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • A self-starter with low ego and great people skills, able to proactively develop both internal and external relationships and drive an agenda forward
  • Highly organised with great attention to detail, commitment to accuracy and ability to balance competing priorities
  • ESG reporting experience and a good understanding of the emerging regulatory landscape; strong analytical skills to analyse data and draw meaningful insights
  • Ability to interpret and apply ESG frameworks to the organisational context
